Once Upon a Time in 2018

2018 was a turning point. Formerly I was (am) the author of numerous books, novels and novelettes. I wrote cozy mysteries with a paranormal element that were published professionally under the author names of Elizabeth Cox and Elizabeth Eagan-Cox. Due to health, time and various other life-throws-at-you decisions I gave up writing and asked my publisher to pull all my titles from retail. I do not need to write. I do, however, need to express my imagination and stay busy with what brings joy to my hours.

I went back to sculpting, after twenty-plus years. I spent hours of re-acquainting myself with the new polymer clays, tools and techniques. I discovered that a lot has changed since I first sculpted! I was delighted to find that the genre of "Art Dolls" has found a special niche and audience. Art dolls, also known as OOAK (one of a kind) are not meant to be played with. Like any piece of art, an art doll (or artist doll) tells a story, expresses a theme and or mood.

I decided to focus on small art doll vignettes dolls, not quite itty-bitty miniatures, but for lack of a better description Barbie-sized dolls (1/6 scale). And, I knew that given my background as a freelance cartoonist that I wanted to create the one-of-a-kind dolls that tell a story via a vignette. So, you see, I'm not just a doll artist, I'm a doll-vignette artist.

I will share with you this fanciful journey I am on, and hope that as you view my creations, you will find something of interest in my doll vignettes.
